Catherine Rose—
Passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009. She was born July 6, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA and went to be with the Lord after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Philadelphia to Charles and Emily Pildis, who preceded her in death. On January 21, 1958 she moved with her new family to Jackson, MI. Catherine is survived by her husband of 54 years, George D.; five children, Stephen of Flint, Kenneth (Amy) of Jerome, Glenn (Patty) of Clark Lake, David of Jackson, and Leanne (Jeff) Jones of Jackson; grandchildren, Lisa, Nicole,and Andrew Parkinson, Jeremy, Adam, and Sarah Jones, Glenn Jr. and Anna Parkinson; one brother, Charles Pildis of North Carolina; three sisters, Margaret Hoffman and Elizabeth Pildis of New Jersey and Joan O'Hara of North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Ruth Parkinson of Jackson; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two nephews; Bruce Hoffman and Michael O'Hara. Catherine was a devout catholic and was an active member of St. John Catholic Church in Jackson for over 30 years. She volunteered for many organizations and charities including, Jackson Area Catholic Special Religious Education Program where her son David and grandson Adam attended, helping the handicapped learn and grow with the Lord. She was active in the Jackson Area Cursillo Movement, Jackson Literacy Program where she helped teach adults to read, was a Eucharistic Minister and reader for St. John Church, was involved with Jackson Area 19 Special Olympics helping with athletes and fund-raising and did nursing home visitations for seven years visiting and singing with the elderly. She worked for over 25 years at the law office of Michael Baughman. Mr. Baughman was her favorite employer and he treated her like family. She had many special friends and loved going to bible study group with these people. We would like to thank the wonderful Allegiance Hospice nurses. You are all truly special. Cremation has taken place. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Reverend James Shaver and the Reverend Sathiyagu will be the celebrants. Interment at Ft. Custer National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
The family will receive friends at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allegiance Hospice, Jackson Area 19 Special Olympics or St. John Catholic Education Scholarship Fund.
