Brooks (Novess), Catherine "Cathy"
On Monday, Feb 19, 2024, God called home a very special person, Catherine 'Cathy' (Novess) Brooks. Cathy was born and raised in Jackson, MI by her mother Margaret Novess. Cathy was such a beautiful soul inside and out. She was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. Everyone who came in contact with her could feel her loving, radiant, positive spirit, as well as the everlasting imprints her presence has left on our hearts. She had such a giving, nurturing nature and the biggest heart. She made it a point to make all those she encountered feel so important and special no matter big or small.
Cathy took great pride in all of her work. She worked very hard to provide for her 3 children being a single parent. There was absolutely nothing she wouldn't do for her children and family as well as her friends. Cathy had various jobs growing up but most of her working years were spent working at Jackson Ford as a service advisor. Her last job before her passing was at Dollar General. She really appreciated her coworkers and continuously talked about all the wonderful customers she met that brought her so much joy and happiness.
Growing up Cathy enjoyed being active and working out. You would either hear her jamming out to her music before work while exercising or singing on her treadmill. She was also fond of taking her kids camping and to various car races. She also loved spending time on Lake Columbia in which she lived with her husband, Brad. She enjoyed the many pontoon rides taken, sitting on the deck and kayaking the bay. She also delighted in spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Later in life, she took up painting, which she was amazing at and found lots of comfort and relaxation in this. She loved family get-togethers at the lake and enjoyed all holidays but Christmas was her favorite. Her giving nature was truly felt year round but especially during Christmas. Seeing others happy made her happy.
Your presence we miss, your memory we treasure, loving you always, forgetting you never!
Cathy is survived by her husband Brad. Her siblings Elsie (John), Fran (Steve), Ed, and Karyl (Mike). Her children Melissa (Micah), Heather, Sean (Stephanie), Michelle (Dave) and Mike. Her continued family includes 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. A private interment will be held at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Cathy's name to St. Jude's Hospital or Tunnel to Towers, it would be greatly appreciated. Cathy consistently contributed to these charities monthly for years and were near and dear to her heart.
