Faris, Carol Ann
Age 85, of Jackson, Michigan was welcomed into her Savior's arms on February 16, 2025. She joined the love of her life, Ed Faris, who died exactly one day before her in 2019, on February 15. Born December 14, 1939 in St Louis, Missouri, to Al and Ann (Stelmach) Kostecki, she was one of six children, a working-class family that was extremely proud of their Polish and Lithuanian heritage. Some of her favorite childhood memories were playing ball in the alley behind their home, having neighborhood hot dog roasts and buying a piece of black licorice for a penny. She often shared how grateful she was for a mom and dad that loved her and stuck together through the tough times. They didn't have much, but she never felt deprived and they were always happy. After graduating high school in 1957, she worked as a secretary at the Knights of Columbus for 10 years, where she earned the nicknames "Kos" and "Kozzie," short for her maiden name, Kostecki.
She met Ed at a singles dance and they married February 19, 1966. They would soon move to Michigan, where they set down roots, raising their 4 children and beginning a lifelong relationship with Morningstar Christian Community, as well as being active members at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Carol loved tending to her roses, raising bluebirds in her backyard and playing her ukulele. As a homemaker, she was able to volunteer for organizations close to her heart, like Meals on Wheels and Birthline of Jackson. We all loved gathering around her table to enjoy her home cooking, where her sense of humor always had us laughing. Her name means "joyous song" and she always had a song in her heart and on her lips. Her love of singing came from her dad (an amazing crooner). She recalls, as a child, singing so loudly in the car with her family, that the windows steamed up.
Carol loved her family and friends with the heart of a servant, a prayer warrior offering to pray for complete strangers. Not long ago, she shared that she wanted to be remembered as a woman who loved the Lord with all her heart and that "I did my best to give unconditional love to family and friends. I hope that I will impart to my children and grandchildren that there is no greater joy than walking in the light of God's truth and trusting HIM completely no matter what happens".
She leaves behind 4 children and 3 sons-in-law, Dianne & Drew Collins, Mary & Tom Christoff, Daniel Faris, Paula & John Krueger, and 7 grandchildren — Faith, Christopher, Paul, Caroline, Kaela, JJ and Landon. She was preceded in death by her brother Leonard and sister Joan. She is survived by sisters Judy Smith, Kathy Cofield and brother, David Kostecki.
A Celebration of Carol's Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2025 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Spring Arbor Road, Jackson with Reverend Zach Holdorf officiating. A private interment will take place at Roseland Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Thursday, February 27 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday, February 28 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol's honor to BIRTHLINE of Jackson.
