Alger (O'Brien), Carol Sue
Carol closed her beautiful blue Irish Eyes to this world and opened them to a new and beautiful Heaven on Saturday, July 15, 2023. She truly lived a long life of 90 years filled with the love of God and family, laughter, happiness, and the joy of many friends.
She was born in Kalamazoo on March 23, 1933 to Tom and Sue O'Brien who preceded her in death. She married her high school sweetheart, Jack Alger and shared 45 years together.
Carol is survived by her children and their spouses; Joe (Nancy) Alger, Tom Alger, Pat (Tammy) Alger, Jacki (George) Staudacher, Beth Waters, and Dan (Dawn) Alger. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren who always called her Grammy; Jed Alger, EMI (SW) Benjamin Alger (Zareena), Alicia Alger (Jason Magnuson) Barrett Alger, Corbin (Jennifer) Alger, Dustin Alger, J.D. Smith, Nicole (Terry) Carlyle, Mary Carol Staudacher, Rachel (Jason) Linnabarry, Zach Alger, Caleb Alger, Kyle (Veronica) Alger, and Cameron Alger. Carol was blessed with 25 great-grandkids whom she adored. Survived also by her Irish Sisters; Clover "Tody" Fox and Cindy (Rich) Penchoff, and brother-in-law John Myers, along with many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jack, her son Tim, and Grandson Jarrod, along with her parents Tom and Sue O'Brien, sisters Colleen "Coke" (John) Cyrocki and Cay-Dee Myers.
Carol was a life-time member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Father Tim Nelson officiating. Private interment will be held at Woodland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 18 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, July 19 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Jackson County Medical Care Facility-Activity Fund or St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
