Carl F. Bachle, Jr.

of Jackson, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the age of 86 years. He was born December 5, 1930 in Detroit, the eldest of four children of Carl, Sr. and Elizabeth Bachle of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia K. Bachle of Jackson, and four children: Anne (Mark) Fifer of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Karen (Daniel) Bishop of Mason, Michigan; John (Jennifer) Bachle of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and James Bachle of Holt, Michigan; one sister, Andrea Fisher; a brother, Stephen Bachle; four grandchildren: Theresa (Tony) Frasca, Joseph (Emily) Bishop, Lauren Bachle and Michael Bachle; and three great-granddaughters: Loretta and Nora Frasca and Lucy Bishop. His was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Kelly.

After a childhood in Grosse Pointe Park, Carl graduated from Campion High School, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, in 1948. He was awarded a four-year U.S. Navy scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts. After active duty aboard a Navy combat ship in the Far East during the Korean War, he qualified as a Naval Aviator in 1955, flying cartographic and reconnaissance aircraft in Europe and the Middle East.
In 1957 he joined the Aeroquip Corporation in Jackson, Michigan, and began a 30-year career in aircraft and industrial advertising, marketing and market research. In 1968 he received a Master of Business Administration degree from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts.

His marriage in 1954 to Patricia Kalish was blessed with four children. Over the years, growing Aeroquip assignments took the family to Los Angeles, California, and Framingham, Massachusetts, and back to Jackson, Michigan. Carl's lifelong interests included aviation, photography, and travel, despite struggling with multiple sclerosis most of his adult life. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Association of Naval Aviation, among many others. He was an active member of Queen's Parish for over forty years. Special thanks to the staff at Trellis Gardens, who lovingly cared for him during his eight years there.

Cremation has taken place, the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 11:00 am with Father Timothy MacDonald as the celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church, before Mass, from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
