Nau (Brautigam), Bonnie J.
92 years young, of Jackson, Michigan, peacefully passed at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
Bonnie was born on July 29, 1930 to Charles and Francis (Klee) Brautigam in Jackson, Michigan. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1948. She was married to Leo L. Nau on July 3, 1948 in Jackson.
Bonnie is survived by her four children, daughter, Susan "Suzy" Gamache and her sons, Larry Nau, Michael (Cheryl) Nau, and Douglas Nau; grandchildren, Keith (Tiffani) Wicklund, Katrina (Terry) Shedd, Aaron (Patti) Gamache, Scott (Doris) Nau, Chuck Nau, Michelle (Jim) Hanchett, Michael (Kara) Nau, Adrianna Nau, and Dougie Nau;; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo L. Nau; parents, Charles O. and Francis (Klee) Brautigam; brothers, Norman, Corey, Dale, and baby Ray Brautigam; sisters in law, Dorothy Brautigam, Mary Brautigam, Rosie (Heines) Nau; in-laws, Leonard and Olive Nau; brothers in law, Henry Nau and Hank Hines; nephew, William Brautigam; and niece, Nora Brautigam.
Bonnie volunteered at Foote Hospital for 25 years, where she found a purpose helping others. She enjoyed staying active and was a faithful member of the Jackson YMCA for many years. Her and her husband Leo created and ran the first Neighborhood Hockey League in their backyard where 100s of youth played hockey. She also enjoyed watching her sons play Hockey at MSU Hockey Arena and the Jackson Optimist Ice Arena where her grandsons, and great grandsons also play hockey.
One of her favorite hobbies was watching Tiger Baseball, Women's College Softball, MSU Football and the Detroit Red Wings. Bonnie also would crochet baby blankets, afghans, and many pot holders. She made all her daughter's tap dance costumes and enjoyed making fun birthday and wedding cakes. At their cabin at Higgins Lake you rarely found her in the cabin. She would either be sun worshiping at the beach or out on the pontoon fishing. Bonnie was a member of the American Legion Jackson for 64 years and a Moose Member of Jackson and Three Rivers for 43 years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed her friends at Bingo and arts and crafts at the Jackson Crouch Senior Center.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church, 711 Martin Luther King Jr Drive, Jackson, MI 49201 with Father Robert Pienta officiating.
The family will receive friends at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, August 4 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Memorial donations may be made to the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home or to the Jackson Senior Crouch Center.
