Wernet, Betty I.
Our Mother, Our Grandmother Our "GG" of Jackson passed away September 12, 2015 under the loving care of her family and the wonderful staff at Allegiance Hospice Home. She would have been 89 on Tuesday.
She is survived by her son Rick (Shelley) Wernet of Lowell, MI. Six daughters Kathy (Tom) Gustafson and Pat (Martin) Susort of Petersburg AK. Barb (Tom) Will, Dorothy (Leo) Lammers, Mary Castle, Karen (Todd) Powers of Jackson. Twenty three grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren and special family member Candy Petty and her family
two sisters- in-law Patricia McCollum and Phyllis (Mel) Videto of Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Merle and Viva Boyce her brother Homer and her step brother Donald Clark,
her beloved husband of 51 years Bernard, her son Bernie and daughter Marilyn Rhodes son-in-law Chris Castle great-grand daughter Kara Bero and great-grand sons Riley Waite and Logan DuBois.
Betty graduated from Jackson High School in January 1944, and then attended Jackson Junior College for two years.
Before becoming a homemaker she was a bookkeeper in the treasury department at Consumers Power. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and past member of the Mothers Club, Marion Circle and Amaranth Club.
She loved to cook, knit and read and always enjoyed music and flowers; but most of all she loved spending time with her family!
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday September 17, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 120 E. Wesley St Jackson, MI. The Reverend Father James Shaver officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Allegiance Hospice Home or St. Mary's Parish.
The family will receive friends at the Church from 1:00 PM until the time of Mass at 2:00 PM.
