of Jackson, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the age of 93. Born on June 3, 1928 in Hammond, Indiana. She is survived by one daughter, Elaine Spencer; three sons, Raymond (Anabel) of Grass Lake, MI, Gary (Patricia) of Brooklyn, MI, and Glenn of Jackson, MI; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, John, Ashley, Jessica, Rebekah, Lucas, Naomi, and Hannah; six great grandchildren, Kaleb, Aiden, Levi, Evelyn, Sophia, and Owen; one great great grandchild, Quincy; two sisters, Jeanette and Lillian; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Harold M. Challender and her sisters, Wanda, Patsy, and Shirley.

Her favorite pass time was a competitive Canasta card game while visiting with family or friends. Betty loved working in the yard, cooking family dinners, and traveling to northern Michigan. She retired from Vista Grand Villa in 2005 at the age of 79 after working for 47 years as a beautician. Private celebration of life ceremony to be held.
