of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the age of 73 years. He is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 53 years, Susie; five children, Cindi (Pete) Ormsby, Linda (Mark) Barr, Randy (Carolyn) Brown, Jeff (Shelly) Brown and Becky Jimenez; nine grandchildren, Paul Ormsby, Stacy Rawlins, Aaron, Adam (Sara), Amber Barr, Gregory & Kristin Brown, Justin & Betsi Brown; four great grandchildren, Austin & Logan Rawlins, Parker & Abby Ormsby; several nieces, nephews, cousins and multiple close friends. Bert was preceded in death by his mother and father, Cora and Bert Brown; two sisters, Sylvia Foster & Marie Donovan; one brother, Don Brown; great granddaughter, Jillian Ormsby. Bert worked as a printer at the Jackson Citizen Patriot and retired after 35 years of service. He loved being with his family at his place at Houghton Lake and enjoyed fishing, boating, Model A cars, traveling & wintering in Florida. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6687, Moose Lodge in Harrison and the Eagles Aerie #3634. Bert touched the lives of many and had a wonderful sense of humor and those he met were not strangers for very long. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. According to his wishes, Bert has been cremated.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday from 4–8 PM. A Rosary Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 PM. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Reverend Andrew Dunne O.S.F.S. will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
