Bazylewicz, Bernard J.
Lifelong resident of Jackson and son of immigrant parents, Teofiel and Helen (Anuszkewicz) Bazylewicz, passed away Tuesday at the age of 94 years. Bernard graduated from Jackson High School in 1936 and later married his wife of 65 years, Anna Job and she survives.
Bernard was a journeyman tool and die maker who worked for Sparton Automotive, Sparton Electronics, and Kelsey Hayes where he retired in 1986 after 49 years in the trade. He was widely regarded for his skill and excellent work. Bernard was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Joseph Parish. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, chef, and all around fix-it-man. He never missed an opportunity to laugh and smile. In his early years he played the violin and clarinet, but later entertained the family with his favorite instrument, the harmonica.
He especially enjoyed the companionship of his family. He will be dearly missed by son Paul of Clarklake, daughters Patricia (Bill) Tuttle of Clarklake, and Marie (Mike) Conklin of Jackson, grandchildren Coley (Kati) Conklin of Chicago, and Kimberly Tuttle (Steve Surber) of Atlanta, brother Joseph, and sisters Rosalie Louise Koziol and Teresa Richardson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Mary Bazylewicz and Helen Batterson, brothers Vincent and Stanley, and grandson Michael Conklin.
The family would like to express its appreciation for the excellent care given by Dr. Richard Byler and the staff at Michigan Heart and also to Allegiance Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
