VARNER, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN II
Of Jackson passed away under the loving care of his family and the staff at the Allegiance Hospice Home on Sunday, July 24, 2011 age 77 years. Survived by his wife of 52 years Lorraine. Four sons; Benjamin III (Julie) of Fenton, Robert (Denise) of Plymouth, Kevin of Grand Rapids and Paul (Amy) of Jackson. Ten grandchildren; Brian (Samantha), Katie (Christopher), Erik, Molly, Erin, Emily, John, Madison, Andrew and Nolan. Four great grandchildren; Zane, Elyse, Melanie and Sophia. Sister, Rosemarie (Paul) Cook, Brother-in-Law, Frank Marriott, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Fank and Sophia, sister, Barbara Marriott and brother Gerald. Ben was a 1952 graduate of St. John's High School, was a U.S. Navy Veteran, retired from Kent Moore Corp. after 36 years of service and was a life long member of St. John's Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his children and grandchildren play baseball, basketball, soccer and hockey. He loved playing golf, cribbage and watching his sons coach basketball. Mr. Varner is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held Wednesday 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 10:30 AM. The Rev. Father James Shaver officiating. Cremation to follow the Funeral Mass.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Rosary Tuesday 6:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association or to Allegiance Hospice Home would be appreciated.
