Wissmueller, Barbara Kay
of Jackson, passed away peacefully, with her family and friends by her side, on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the age of 63 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Lance. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Douglas; one son, Scott (Sara) Wissmueller; daughter-in-law, Monica Wissmueller; four grandchildren, Ryan, Avery, Rachel and Reece; two brothers, Mike (Kathy) Lefere and John (Susan) Lefere; mother-in-law, Maurine Wissmueller; brother-in-law, Gregory (Pam) Wissmueller; sister-in-law, Julie Wissmueller; numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elsie Lefere; father-in-law, Kurt Wissmueller and sister-in-law, Lorri Ann Wissmueller.

Barbara graduated in 1966 from St. John's High School. She loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, especially hockey. She was "Nana" to her grandchildren. Barb's love of children was evident in the lives she touched during the years she worked at the Intermediate School District. She was a life long, active member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Parish where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of Mother Teresa Circle. She was a major organizer and key member of the Lefere family reunion which included about 600 people.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Ridgecrest for their care and compassion.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with Reverend Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lumen Christi High School, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Queens Church or the Jackson Interfaith Shelter.
