Engel, Barbara Jean (Logeman)


passed away peacefully in her home in Lake Ozark, MO on January 29, 2017 at the age of 88. Barbara was born on August 20, 1928 in Jackson, MI to Edward and Veronica Logeman.

She attended St. John's School and Jackson Junior Community College, but her greatest achievement in life was raising 8 incredible children with the love of her life, John "Tom" Engel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom (December 31, 1992), as well as her 2 siblings, Alma (Logeman) Daly and Edward Logeman.

Barb leaves to mourn an entourage of family and friends including 8 loving children; Linda (Dave) Lintner of Haines City, FL, Patty (Tom) Benner of Horton, MI, Bob (Denise) Engel of Jackson, MI, Margi (Carter) of Lake Ozark, MO, Mary Anne (Mike) Madden of Lake Ozark, MO, Sue (Bob) Strieffert of Elmore, OH, Mike (Alicia) Engel of Chapin, SC, Mark Engel of Perrysburg, OH, as well as 24 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Barb was a gentle soul and always found something positive to say; and while she could tell a funny story about our childhood, she was content with just listening to others. She was an avid reader and when her vision worsened, she listened to books on audiotape. She could sit for hours working on puzzles. Barb loved music and dancing and craft projects. She would light up when one of her grandkids were near. She loved to travel and even had the pleasure of living in Antigua for several years. She loved the water and enjoyed evening boat rides on the Lake. She was the kind of mother that every daughter wishes to aspire to and every son is thankful for.

Mrs. Engel is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 10:30 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of the Miraculous Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Father Timothy MacDonald as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Friday, February 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Queen's Catholic Church or St. John Catholic Church.

Mom, we all have memories with you that we will cherish forever. Thank you for loving us and taking care of us when we needed you. Thank you and Dad for all of your love.
