Audrey Faye Worth (Forbes)

passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Audrey was born on June 26, 1932 to Aloysius and Agnes (Carter) Forbes. She was the fifth of six children. She was born in Birmingham, Michigan and moved to Jackson as a young child. Audrey graduated from Jackson High School in 1950.

When Audrey told her mother that she was engaged to be married following high school graduation, her mother said, "Why do you want to be married so young? You will be married for such a long time." Audrey replied, "That is the best part!" And so it was. She married the love of her life, William Augustus Worth, Sr. on July 8, 1950. They spent the next 67 years raising the large family she always wanted, working side-by-side at Worth Surveying, and enjoying many good times with family and friends. Audrey shared that her life was exactly the way she had hoped it would be.

Nothing was more important to Audrey than her family. She was happiest when everyone was together. She taught her children and grandchildren that family comes first, to be honest and hard-working, to do everything with a happy heart (or it won't count), and washing dishes will cure just about anything that might ail you. She was a determined, strong, intelligent woman and was a role model for many. She never put her own needs above the needs of her husband and children.

She loved to spend time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She cherished her memories of traveling the United States and Canada, particularly the wilderness of Mongoose Lake in the summers, the warm sunshine and friends in Siesta Key, Florida, and long walks on the beach. No walk was complete without touching the wall and saying a quick prayer. She enjoyed the parties with members of Club 54, cheering for University of Michigan football and basketball teams, relaxing with good books, and soaking up the sun by her swimming pool.

Audrey fought ovarian cancer for over 11 years. She was willing to undergo treatment so that she could be with her family as long as possible. She approached cancer in the same way she approached life: head-on and with an inner strength and peace that she could accomplish anything she set her mind to do.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Sr., daughter, Susan, her parents, Aloysius and Agnes Forbes, and siblings, Walter, Dolores Rappleye, Richard, infant Yvonne, and Constance Bannasch.

She is survived by her children, William A. Jr. (Kathleen), Thomas (Pamela), Mary, Cynthia, Kathleen (Kathleen), Amy, Caroline (Thomas) Wacker, James (Monique), Patricia (Joseph) Ritter, John, 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and close family friend Sheryl (Jacob) DeCoster, whom Audrey considered her 12th child.
