age 87, of Jackson, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010. He was born in Piedras Negros, Mexico on November 2, 1922. He is survived by his wife, the former Angeline Morales, to whom he was married on January 29, 1949; one daughter, Stella (Tom) Valdez and two sons, Arthur Jr. and Andrew Valdez; four grandchildren, Graciela (Jon) Metters, Arthur Valdez III, Chad Fowler and Megan (Jon) Sanborn; five great grandchildren, Kaeden and Aubrey Fowler, Kennedy and Elliot Sanborn and Ella Metters; numerous nieces and nephews; six siblings, Antonio (Kathleen) Valdez, Aurora (Guadalupe) Castillo, Angeline (Jesus) Medina, Alphonso Valdez, Ramona (Arthur) Herrera and Pedro (Gloria) Valdez. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Ramona Valdez and his brother, Paul. Arthur was a retiree of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. The loves of his lives were his family and his "kitties". He was an avid reader, sports fan and political commentator. At his request, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 27 at 1:00 PM. Reverend James Shaver will be the celebrant.

The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a Rosary Service held at 6:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
