of Michigan Center, age 79, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at home. He was born March 23, 1932 in Royalton, Kentucky to Franklin and Elva (Patton) Marshall. He grew up in Stockbridge, and worked as a Trackman building railroads for New York Central Railroad in Ann Arbor. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Army serving as a Sergeant during the Korean War until 1954. Shortly after discharge, he met and married Betty Jane (Hutchins) in 1955. She preceded him in death on October 12, 1991, and they are reunited in heaven. After Arnold retired from Pittsburgh Forging in 1989, he worked for several years as a security guard to keep busy. He was a loving father and doting grandfather who took great pleasure in spending time with his family. He loved spoiling his grandchildren and reading books. He was an avid fan of the Red Wings and Detroit Tigers. Arnold is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Clara and Tom Haller and his grandchildren Jacob, Michaela, and Derek Haller. In addition to his wife and parents, Arnold was preceded in death by his sister Beatrice Arnett and five brothers Charlie, Willard, Robert, Edward, and David Marshall.
A celebration of Arnold's life will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Desnoyer Funeral Home with Pastor Rod Walker officiating. Entombment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
"If I should go tomorrow It would never be goodbye, For I have left my heart with you, So don't you ever cry. The love that's deep within me, Shall reach you from the stars, You'll feel it from the heavens, And it will heal the scars."
