In Loving Memory of Annette May Golombeski (Podlo)
December 13, 1941 – January 21, 2026
With deep love and profound sadness, our family announces that Annette May Golombeski (Podlo), age 84, was called home by our Lord on January 21, 2026, to be reunited with her beloved husband, Joe.
Annette was preceded in death by her devoted husband Joseph Golombeski, her parents Esther and Michael Podlo, and her sister Shirley Brown.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her three children: Michael (Brandy) Golombeski, Karl "K.C". Golombeski, and Tamra "Tammy" Golombeski; six grandchildren: Heather (Robert) Shaw, Kristi Tabor, Brandy (Kyle) Young, Kevin (Kayla) Golombeski, Michael S. Golombeski, and Alexis (Chris) Havens and four step grandchildren Lee Edwards, Casey Edwards, Amber Madden and Dylan McConnell also ten great grandchildren: Kelci Shaw, Ayden, Eavie, Liberty, Remi, Joseph, Lucas, Alex, David, and Alexander; and one precious great-great granddaughter, Bentley Luke and ten step great-grandchildren: Landon, Summer, Logan, Chance, Gunner, Blake, Carson, Paisley, Kendall and Kyzer. She also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nephews and nieces.
Annette was the heart and matriarch of her family—steadfast, welcoming, and full of warmth. Raised in the Catholic Church, she once dreamed of becoming a nun, but her life took a different, beautiful path when she fell in love with her handsome Joe. Together, they built a life in Jackson, where they raised their children and created a home filled with laughter, gatherings, and the irresistible aroma of Annette's cooking.
If you walked into Annette's home, you were greeted first by the smell of something delicious simmering on the stove—golumpkies, perogies, homemade noodles, duck blood soup, tomato rice soup, and countless other family favorites—always prepared with love and usually to the soundtrack of country music playing softly in the background. She hosted every holiday, every birthday, and every family celebration, making sure everyone was fed, cared for, and surrounded by joy.
Annette embraced life fully. She loved Bingo, quadding on the land, camping, and those long Sunday drives with Joe that always ended with the two of them sharing a slice of pie at a cozy café. She worked for many years at Meijer in the photo lab, and before that in a machine shop. With her husband and children, she also helped run Joe's Trading Post, leaving her mark on every place she served. As a pipeliner's wife, she traveled across numerous states, turning each journey into an adventure.
Creative to her core, Annette found joy in ceramics, sewing, beading, crochet, and painting, passing those artistic gifts down through generations. She enjoyed friendly competition—pool, darts, euchre, dominos, and family poker games—and she especially loved the casino, where the slots were her happy place.
Proud of her Polish heritage, Annette treasured the food, festivals, and polka music that reminded her of her roots.
Above all else, Annette will be remembered for her boundless love, her generosity of spirit, and her ability to bring people together. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a blessing, and her home a haven. She leaves behind a family forever shaped and strengthened by her love.
She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished. A Mass of Christian Burial in honor of Annette's life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Catholic Church, 711 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Jackson, Michigan 49201. Fr. Randy Koenigsknecht will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Following the service, family and friends are warmly invited to gather for a luncheon at the Parish Center, where her memory will be shared, celebrated, and cherished together.
