Diamond, Ann Ione
Of Jackson, Michigan passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023 at the age of 92. Ann is survived by her 6 children: Ken (Patsy) Diamond, Terry Burke, Rose (Bob) Tripp, Pam Diamond (Don Selask), Debby (Charlie) Brown, Mary (Pete) O'Neill; 17 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn Mather; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley; her parents; six siblings; granddaughter, Jessyca; two great-grand kids, Tara and Zachariah; and son-in-law, Jack Burke Sr.
On October 18, 1931, Ann Ione was born to James E. and Agnes M. Laurie in Pateros, Washington. Ann grew up in the State of Washington where she eventually met her husband, Harley Diamond, at the US Naval Base in Bremerton. After the birth of their first two children, the couple moved to Michigan in 1955. Ann and Harley had four more children and lived the remainder of their lives in and around Jackson. Ann worked for Glick Iron and Metal Co. for over 40 years and co-founded their family business, Diamond Accounting & Income Tax in 1958. Thanks to their leadership, the business still thrives today.
Ann was a very faithful and long time member of St. John's Parish. She loved to sew, creating a much loved tradition of gifting handmade pajamas at Christmas for her children and grandchildren for many years. Her handmade gifts eventually evolved to include quilts, tree skirts and aprons; all now treasured heirlooms belonging to her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. In addition to sewing, Ann loved to travel having visited her home state of Washington on many occasions, Hawaii, Florida and California. She enjoyed spending time with family while vacationing on Lake Michigan, Mackinac Island and most recently and frequently at the Fire Keepers casino.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Henry Ford Hospice for their compassionate and thoughtful care of our mom.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chas Canoy officiating. Interment will follow at Roseland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
