O'Neill, Anita Fay
Of Jackson, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10 at the age of 93. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Anita was preceded in death by John, her husband of 71 years. She is survived by her sister Sandra London, and by her children: Margaret, Kevin (Kim), Edward (Anne), Susan O'Neill-Cook (Clare), Joseph (Elaine), Peter (Mary), 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Anita had a special relationship with each of them.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church for over 70 years. She volunteered for the Girl Scouts, took communion to nursing homes, helped at services for Shut-ins, served Meals on Wheels, and helped as an aide at Wilson School and the Lyle A. Torrant Center. She helped start the religious education program for Special Needs students and was awarded a Pius X Medal in recognition of her outstanding and dedicated service.
Anita kept busy. She worked at Sears, as a secretary at St. John's School, and as an X-ray tech at the Lung Association. With her friend Ellen, she started a slip-cover business. She hosted hundreds of gatherings of friends and relatives at 913 Browning and at the cottage in Kingsbridge, Ontario which was near dear Canadian relatives. Her favorite hobbies were reading, painting, and sewing.
The family notes the loving care provided by Bobby and Kevin Ganton and their staff to their parents at the Arbor North Living Center.
A celebration of Anita's life will take place on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 11:30 AM at the Desnoyer Funeral Home, 204 N. Blackstone St., Jackson, MI 49201. Reverend Joseph O'Neill will officiate. Prior to the ceremony, the family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you consider a donation to David's Promise - Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County or another charity of your choice.
