Fridd, Alvin G. Jr.
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, with his family by his side. Alvin was born April 16, 1931 to Virginia & Alvin Fridd in Jackson, Michigan.
Alvin served his country in the U.S. Army where he met and married his wife, Helga, in Stuttgart, Germany.
He was a tool & die maker by trade, for over 30 years and later was a co-founder of K & A Machine & Tool, Inc. with his wife and son, Karl.
Al is survived by his children, Susan (Bob) Fitzpatrick, Karl (Connie) Fridd and Jenny (Tom) Smith, all of Jackson. Grandchildren, AJ (Angela) and Bobby (Tina) Fitzpatrick, K.C., Josh & Kayla Fridd, Shanna (Dave) Turyan, Sheela (John) Federici, Sarra and Tommy Smith. Great-grandchildren, Drew, Brock, Connor, Riley, Brody, Jack, Mattie, Giovanni, Gracie, Ashley, Brandon, Sebastian, David and Dominic. Siblings, Phil (Joyce) and Peggy and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Al was preceded in death by his brother, Donald (Ila) and grandson, Nicholas Fridd.
He will always be remembered as hard-working and being there when you needed him and by expressing his love for his family by providing for them. Additionally, Al was especially proud of working on new projects around his home and yard.
The family would like to give a very special recognition to his granddaughter, Sarra, for her loving care, compassion and devotion that she gave to Grandpa over the last several years and also to the staff of Bethany House for their kindness and care.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 2:00 PM with Fr. Brian Lenz officiating. Internment at Roseland Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday, March 26 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Desnoyer Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 7:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Bethany Care Home, 1000 E. Porter Street, Jackson, Michigan, 49202.
