McCleer, Agnes Mary Timm
Agnes Mary Timm McCleer, 95, of Jackson, died Thursday November 26, 2009 in the care of her family and the kind staff of Countryside Care Center. Agnes was born on April 1, 1914 on the family farm near Michigan City Indiana. She was the eldest daughter of Joseph Paul Timm and Loretta (Kintzele) Timm. She attended the Coolspring Township country school and St. Mary Catholic School in Michigan City. In 1941, at the Oasis Ball Room in Michigan City, she met Phil McCleer. She waited for Phil to return from military service in Europe, and on his return in 1946, married him and moved to Jackson, where they built their home on Webster Street and raised their family.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Philip Steven Timm, her sister, Julia Elizabeth Jasinski, her husband of 60 years, Philip Arthur McCleer, and the loss she could not bear, her youngest son, Jerome Paul McCleer. She is survived by her sons: Patrick James (Shirley) McCleer of Jackson, Michael Joseph of Detroit, and Arthur Philip (Karen) of Gregory Michigan; her daughter-in-law Mary Robinson McCleer of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; grandchildren: Anne Kathleen (Kyle) Howarth, Joseph Patrick (fiancee: Adriana Rendon), Johanna Elizabeth, Philip Merlin, and Terence Patrick Kleen; sisters: Esther (Bill) Wilson and Mary Lou (Alfred) Kolodiej; and her first-born great grandchild, Peyton Ann Howarth. Agnes was a 61 year member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. She thought it the most wonderful parish on earth. Mrs. McCleer is at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will be held Tuesday 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church 10:30 AM. Internment will be next to her husband Philip in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Monday, November 30, from 2 to 4 PM and from 6 to 8 PM, with the rosary at 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jerry McCleer Scholarship fund at Lumen Christi High School or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
